Growing wine in a new landscape

New Zealand wines usually refers to Marlborough and Central Otago, not for the brothers Paul and Brett Duffy. They set to break ground in the remote Moturoa Island, Bay of Islands with the help of Brett, the viticulturist who garnered his knowledge from his years in Central Otago.

As a small and remote vineyard with the mantra “We’re going to grow wine here, not make juice”, Boulder Bay Wines always set it’s sights on a limited and high calibre vintage. With the right mix of soil, environment and know-how – we were tasked with creating the complete identity and packaging that honours the craft going into producing the wine.

We crafted their story, tone of voice and language, and created a brand look and feel that speaks to this exclusivity. The subtle topographic lines of Moturoa Island and exquisite use of copper gives the brand a feeling of understated dignity. Our objective was to create a label and brand story that could be savoured as much as the wine itself.
